« Voila plus de 10 ans que je connais Alex Face. Notre première rencontre s’est faite lors de l’un de ses vernissages d’expo à Bangkok. Je me prends une claque par sa maitrise technique. Peu de temps après on se retrouve pour une expo commune toujours sur Bangkok. Depuis le Monsieur a voyagé et enchainé de magnifiques expos à travers la planète. Depuis deux ans son travail, emprunt d´une grande spiritualité (propre au boudhisme), lui a permis une ascencion époustouflante dans le marché de l’art asiatique pour accèder au rang DE SUPER STAR DU STREET ART en Asie !
L’homme est resté le même : simple , modeste et accessible. Je prends donc toujours autant de plaisir à le retrouver pour collaborer sur les murs et suis une nouvelle fois honoré de recevoir ce grand artiste sur les cimaises de la galerie. »
Jace talks about the artist
« I have known Alex Face for more than 10 years. Our first meeting was at one of his exhibition openings in Bangkok. I take a slap in the face for his technical mastery. Shortly after we meet for a joint exhibition still in Bangkok. Since then, the gentleman has traveled and held magnificent exhibitions across the planet. For two years his work, borrowed from a great spirituality (specific to Buddhism), has allowed him a breathtaking ascent in the Asian art market to reach the rank of SUPER STAR OF STREET ART in Asia!
The man has remained the same: simple, modest and accessible. So I always take so much pleasure to find him again to collaborate on the walls and I am once again honored to receive this great artist on the picture rails of the gallery. »
L' Île Récréative
Flottant sur l’île de nous-même.
Nous avons essayé de créer un endroit doux et confortable, empreint de paix et de liberté.
Un endroit où l’on peut se sentir en sécurité.
Toutefois, conscients des préoccupations dans notre esprit .
Conscients que notre « île » n’est nulle part, parfois plus proche d’un état de souffrance et de conflit qu’il n’y paraît.
La pandémie a fait ses débuts explosifs environ deux mois après ma dernière exposition à La Réunion.
Depuis, je travaille dans mon atelier, je voyage peu, contrairement à avant.
Cette série de peintures a été créée à Khao Lak, en Thaïlande, une petite ville balnéaire dont je suis tombé amoureux après avoir passé du temps à surfer sur le monde impermanent et déconnecté, sans lien.
« The Recreational Island » est une conversation d’un rivage à un autre, , un moment de (re)création, de (re)connexion, juste entre la tranquillité d’esprit entre le croisement de nos malaises passés et un chapitre interrogatif.
The Recreational Island
Floating on the island of ourselves.
We’ve tried to create a soft and cozy place that’s full of peace and freedom.
A place where we can feel safe.
Yet, aware of the harmful situation around our home of mind.
Aware that our island is nowhere, but closer to the mainland of misery and conflict than it look.
The pandemic had its explosive debut about two months after my last show at Reunion Island.
Since then, I’ve been working in my studio, hardly travelling, contrary to before.
This series of paintings was created in Khao Lak, Thailand – a small seaside town where I’ve fallen in love with after spending time surfing on the impermanent unconnected (physical) world.
‘The Recreational Island’ is a conversation from shore to shore, a mark of re-creation, re-connecting, the division between the peace of mind and awareness, right between the crossover from our past ailments into a questioning chapter.
